Built in Collaborations , Driven by Fear…

Clock Tower (1996)

You play as Jennifer Simpson, a young orphan who arrives at the Barrows Mansion after her foster family dies under mysterious circumstances. Soon after her arrival, she discovers the mansion harbors a dark secret: a series of brutal murders committed by the Scissorman, a deranged killer wielding giant scissors.

As Jennifer, the player must explore the mansion, avoid the Scissorman, solve environmental puzzles, and gather clues to survive. Unlike many horror games, Jennifer cannot fight back—her only tools are stealth, quick thinking, and hiding in closets or rooms. The game builds tension through a cat-and-mouse dynamic, where the killer can appear unpredictably, forcing the player to react quickly or risk death.

Multiple endings depend on Jennifer’s choices and actions throughout the game, giving players high replayability and different perspectives on the mystery of the Barrows Mansion.

Originally Released in 1995 on the SNES in Japan , This version has updated graphics to the PlayStation low poly style.

Clock Tower is a horror point-and-click adventure that helped set the base for the creation of the survival Horror. Developed by Human Entertainment, it’s known for introducing the stalker enemy mechanic (which is questionable due to Friday the 13th (1989) on NES doing it First) , which influenced later horror franchises. Its emphasis on vulnerability, suspense, and narrative-driven exploration makes it a classic in the survival horror genre, even though combat is absent.
